What types of orders can I place through the Investmint app? What is the difference between a longterm order and an intraday order?

You can place long-term and intraday orders on the Investmint app

Longterm orders (CNC):

  1. Long-term buy orders let you purchase stocks to hold them for durations longer than 1 day.
  2. Long-term sell orders on the other hand let you sell stocks in your holdings.

Intraday orders (MIS):

  1. Intraday buy orders let you take long positions on a stock. This means you will benefit if the stock price goes up through the day.
  2. Intraday sell orders let you take short positions on a stock. This means you will benefit if the stock price goes down through the day.
  3. Every intraday order has to be squared off by the end of the day. This means if you have taken a long position (placed a buy intraday order for a stock), you will have to sell stocks within the same day.
  4. If an intraday trade is not squared off manually, your broker will auto-square-off the trade for you. This generally comes with an additional cost per order. Hence, it is better to square off your intraday positions by yourself.
